Twin Lakes LGBTQ+ Engagement

Have you ever thought about what marrying a fire fighter must be like? If youโ€™re Bailey, you know quite well the upโ€™s and downโ€™s of spending the rest of your life with a person who has a deep passion for what they do. Anna has been in the Forest Service for ten years, spending six months at a time putting her life in danger, hiking all over burnt debris, and maintaining a safe forest area for homes and wildlife. In 2018, when Anna proposed, she was on a fire at Twin Lakes, CO. It was her idea to have their engagement pictures taken there because if there is one thing I know about wild firesโ€ฆ its that they make gorgeous sunsets, unfortunately.

We soon became great friends and drove up from Salida to view the colors changing in the park. Aspens everywhere casting their yellow and orange reflection in the large lake. If youโ€™re traveling from Denver, Twin Lakes is a short 30 minute drive from Leadville, the highest town in Colorado, in altitude that is. From the months of September to mid-October, the leaves are poppinโ€™! Do be mindful of snow and early frost as some years we lose all the leaves by the end of September.

Past the town of Twin Lakes is a adorable little bridge and creek, this picnic area has family friendly hikes and has all the viewโ€™s you hoped and dreamed about. There is also plenty of camping areas by the boat ramp and delicious smells of folks grilling and sounds of laughter amongst the campers. People enjoy fishing, paddle boarding, and skipping rocks along the beach. I love shooting here and what I enjoy most is that not very many people actually shoot here unlike areas around Denver. Just be prepared to pay a small $7 fee if youโ€™re going to stay awhile.
